business, to be conscious of quality issues. The value of a Raw Cashew
Nut will determines it's quality. The quality is majorly measured using,
Nut Count, Kernel Out-turn Ratio, Colour, Shape of Kernel, Condition of
Kernel e.t.c. Stakeholders should watch out for the specification
below:
Raw Cashew Nuts
- Moisture Content: 8 – 10%
- Shape: Kidney Shaped
- Colour: gray, dark grey, greenish or brownish in colour
- Foreign Matter: 0.5% Maximum
- Defective Nuts: 15% Maximum
- Nuts: Healthy and free from mould
Raw Cashew Kernels
- Moisture Content: 5% Maximum
- Shape: Kidney Shaped
- Kernel Types: White/Scorched/Dessert kernels in the form of wholes or pieces
- Fatty Acid: 0.7% Maximum
It must be completely free from
infestation, adhering testa and objectionable extraneous matter.
