RAW CASHEW NUT QUALITY ISSUES

It is highly important for all participant in the Cashew Nut export business, to be conscious of quality issues. The value of a Raw Cashew Nut will determines it's quality. The quality is majorly measured using, Nut Count, Kernel Out-turn Ratio, Colour, Shape of Kernel, Condition of Kernel e.t.c. Stakeholders should watch out for the specification below:



Raw Cashew Nuts 
  • Moisture Content: 8 – 10%
  • Shape:                        Kidney Shaped
  • Colour:                       gray, dark grey, greenish or brownish in colour
  • Foreign Matter:     0.5% Maximum
  • Defective Nuts:     15% Maximum
  • Nuts:                         Healthy and free from mould

Raw Cashew Kernels 
  • Moisture Content:  5% Maximum
  • Shape:                         Kidney Shaped
  • Kernel Types:           White/Scorched/Dessert kernels in the form of wholes or pieces
  • Fatty Acid:                0.7% Maximum

 It must be completely free from infestation, adhering testa and objectionable extraneous matter.
