Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey agrees to join Juventus in 5-year deal worth £36m

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey agrees to join Juventus in 5-year deal worth??36m
Arsenal forward, Aaron Ramsey has agreed a five-year deal with Juventus worth £36m and will join the Italian champions on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The midfielder has been discussing a move for weeks and will leave Arsenal after 10 years at the club. It had been clear the Wales international would move in the summer and Juventus had been the frontrunners to secure the 28-year-old’s signature.

Ramsey will be paid around £140,000 a week (£7.2m a season), making him Juventus’s second-highest earner behind Cristiano Ronaldo but ahead Paulo Dybala and Douglas Costa.

Juventus, who have won the past seven Serie A titles, signed Ronaldo for €100m last summer and are nine points clear of Napoli in second place after 19 games. They have reached two of the last four Champions League finals, albeit losing both, to Barcelona in 2015 and Real Madrid two years later.

They are in the last 16 of this season’s competition, where they face Atlético Madrid.  The Juventus manager, Max Allegri, and the director Fabio Paratici are huge admirers of Ramsey, who is likely to be given a place in the Juventus starting XI, most likely playing with Miralem Pjanic and Blaise Matuidi in a three-man midfield. He is likely to replace one of Emre Can, Rodrigo Bentancur and Sami Khedira, with the latter possibly leaving the club in the summer.

Wenger to leave Arsenal at the end of season

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has announced that he will resign as the club manager at the end of the season.
The 68-year-old took charge of the club in 1996 and guided them to three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups.
He has been under intense pressure after the club finished outside the league’s top four last season for the first time since Wenger arrived at the club in 1996, and are now 14 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham, with five matches remaining.
Wenger in a statement posted on Arsenal website, said it was time for him to step down.
“After careful consideration and following discussions with the club, I feel it is the right time for me to step down at the end of the season.

“I am grateful for having had the privilege to serve the club for so many memorable years.
“I managed the club with full commitment and integrity.
“I want to thank the staff, the players, the Directors and the fans who make this club so special.
“I urge our fans to stand behind the team to finish on a high.
“To all the Arsenal lovers take care of the values of the club. My love and support for ever.”

Arsenal Majority owner Stan Kroenke said Wenger had an exceptional record that will never be matched at the club.
“This is one of the most difficult days we have ever had in all our years in sport. One of the main reasons we got involved with Arsenal was because of what Arsène has brought to the club on and off the pitch” he said.

“His longevity and consistency over such a sustained period at the highest level of the game will never be matched”.

“Arsène has unparalleled class and we will always be grateful to him. Everyone who loves Arsenal and everyone who loves football owes him a debt of gratitude. Three Premier League titles, including an entire season unbeaten, seven FA Cup triumphs and 20 successive years in the Champions League is an exceptional record. He has also transformed the identity of our club and of English football with his vision for how the game can be played”.

“We have high ambitions to build on Arsène’s remarkable tenure and to honor his vision by ensuring that Arsenal competes for and wins the biggest and most important prizes in the game.
“We must now focus on making a strong finish to the season and ask our millions of fans around the world to join us in paying appropriate tribute to one of the greats of Arsenal’s history and one of the greats of the game.”
Arsène will lead the team to the end of the season and we will make an appointment as soon as possible. The club will not be making any further comment on the selection process until an appointment is made.

Europa League: Wenger reacts to Arsenal’s 2-0 win against AC Milan

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has reacted to the club’s 2-0 win over AC Milan at San Siro on Thursday.
The Gunners defeated AC Milan 2-0 in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16, taking a major step towards reaching the quarter final.
Going into the game, Arsene Wenger’s men had won just once in their last five in all competitions.
Wenger had earlier said that the only way his side could make it to the Champions League next season was to win the Europa League.
First-half goals from Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Aaron Ramsey silenced the crowd at the San Siro.
Speaking after the game, the Frenchman said, “It’s an important win, we had a nightmare week, it’s a good win but it’s not qualification.
“Overall I’m happy with our spirit and the response we gave.
“Our speed dropped in the second-half. We became a bit too cautious but we defended with resilience.”

Brazilian Player Sent Off For Trying To Finger Opponent’s Backside During Match (Pic)

A defender Rodrigo earned a red card after trying to poke a finger into an opponent’s backside. With a fear of the drop from Brazil’s Serie A on the line on Sunday, Ponte Preta were leading relegation rivals Vitoria 2-0 before collapsing to a 3-2 defeat that sent them down.

The catalyst, on 20 minutes and with that two-goal lead in hand, was the sending-off of Rodrigo – the centre back being dismissed for his assault on Rodrigo Tellez.

Television replays showed Rodrigo grabbing the Vitoria man from behind and appearing to jab a finger into his backside in an off-the-ball situation.

Ponte Preta promptly surrendered their lead, falling behind with eight minutes remaining before their fans invaded the pitch to have the match abandoned, sealing their demise.

Supporters in the 13,000 sell-out crowd tore down parts of the wire fencing and charged on to the pitch, with angry supporters surrounding goalkeeper Aranha.

Most of the other players ran from the field and, although the referee waited almost an hour in the hope of restarting the game, he ruled that the players’ safety could not be guaranteed and abandoned the match.
