President
Muhammadu Buhari has on Tuesday approved the appointment of Mohammed
Babandede as the new Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration
Service (NIS).
The appointment was issued in a statement signed by
Bassey Akpanyung, permanent secretary, Ministry of Interior, and made
available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja.
Until his appointment, Mr. Babandede was a Deputy Comptroller-General at the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters.
Mr. Babandede replaces Martin Abeshi, who retired last week from the Service at the end of his tenure.

“I
write to notify that the last day of your service in the Nigeria
Immigration Service has lapsed on Sunday, 15 May 2016 in accordance with
the extension granted you vide PRES/92/INTR/7 dated 4 March 2016.
Consequently, you are to handover to DCG Mohammed Babandede (NIS/4817)
as the Acting Comptroller General of Immigration effective immediately.”
Babandede
hails from Jigawa State and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in
History/Islamic Studies before proceeding to the Ahmadu Bello
University, ABU Zaria where he obtained a Masters degree in Law
Enforcement and Criminal Justice.
