An auto crash involving a Lexus sports utility vehicle and a motorcycle has claimed
the lives of six persons and left three others with severe injuries in Delta State.
The crash occurred along the Emede Expressway in Isoko South Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the SUV and a motorcycle conveying some people
from a ceremony in Iyede allegedly collided, severely injuring the
motorcycle rider and two person.
The driver of the SUV and five others, however, lost their lives.
A Divisional Police Officer in Oleh, Mr. Muazu Mohammed, confirmed
the incident, saying that the owner of the SUV had been arrested and he
was currently helping the Police with the investigation of the accident.
Meanwhile, survivors of the crash who are in critical condition are receiving treatment at the Oleh General Hospital.
This comes two days after another accident claimed five lives along
Kwale Road, after Aradhe in Isoko North Local Government Area.
The General Overseer, Soldiers of Christ Mission, Oleh, Bishop Mike
Okaro, told our correspondent that the accident occurred when 20 boys,
all members of his church were going to Asaba for Boys Brigade training
when the accident happened.
The cleric said that the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria Toyota
Hiace bus conveying the boys had a tyre blowout while in motion and
somersaulted several times, resulting in the death of five of the boys.
Others who sustained various degrees of injuries are receiving
treatments at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin City;
Ufor Hospital in Ughelli and Stone Hill Clinic in Oleh.
The cleric added that two of the boys with broken legs were receiving
traditional treatment at Oyede, in Isoko North Local Government Area.
